Rectangular States

This question was last asked in Week 4, on 7 November 2017 (Round 3, Geography – Question 2).

On that occasion I pointed out that strictly speaking, they're not actually rectangular. Their borders are defined in terms of lines of latitude and longitude, so because lines of longitude converge towards the poles, their northern borders are shorter than their southern ones.
